  1. Another Part of the Field.
  2.  Alarum.
  3.  Enter RICHARD, and RICHMOND;
  4.  they fight; RICHARD is slain. Exit RICHMOND.
  5.  Retreat and flourish.
  6.  Enter RICHMOND, STANLEY bearing the crown,
  7.  with divers other LORDS and SOLDIERS.
  8.  
  9. Richmond    God and your arms be praised, victorious friends.
  10.     The day is ours; the bloody dog is dead.
  11.  
  12. Stanley    Courageous Richmond, well hast thou acquit thee.
  13.     Lo, here this long-usurpd royalty
  14.     From the dead temples of this bloody wretch
  15.     Have I plucked off, to grace thy brows withal.
  16.     Wear it, enjoy it, and make much of it.
  17.                                   [Presenting the crown to RICHMOND.
  18.  
  19. Richmond    Great God of heaven, say Amen to all.
  20.     But tell me, is young George Stanley living?
  21.  
  22. Stanley    He is, my lord, and safe in Leicester town,
  23.     Whither, if it please you, we may now withdraw us.
  24.  
  25. Richmond    What men of name are slain on either side?
  26.  
  27. Stanley    John Duke of Norfolk, Walter Lord Ferrers,
  28.     Sir Robert Brakenbury, and Sir William Brandon.
  29.  
  30. Richmond    Inter their bodies as becomes their births.
  31.     Proclaim a pardon to the soldiers fled
  32.     That in submission will return to us;
  33.     And then, as we have ta'en the sacrament,
  34.     We will unite the white rose and the red.
  35.     Smile, heaven, upon this fair conjunction,
  36.     That long have frowned upon their enmity.
  37.     What traitor hears me and says not Amen?
  38.     England hath long been mad, and scarred herself:
  39.     The brother blindly shed the brother's blood;
  40.     The father rashly slaughtered his own son;
  41.     The son, compelled, been butcher to the sire.
  42.     All this, divided, York and Lancaster
  43.     Divided in their dire division.
  44.     O now let Richmond and Elizabeth,
  45.     The true succeeders of each royal house,
  46.     By God's fair ordinance conjoin together;
  47.     And let their heirs, God, if Thy will be so,
  48.     Enrich the time to come with smooth-faced peace,
  49.     With smiling plenty, and fair prosperous days.
  50.     Abate the edge of traitors, gracious Lord,
  51.     That would reduce these bloody days again,
  52.     And make poor England weep in streams of blood.
  53.     Let them not live to taste this land's increase
  54.     That would with treason wound this fair land's peace.
  55.     Now civil wounds are stopped, peace lives again-
  56.     That she may long live here, God say Amen!
